Why are these wind chimes the best? Thunderbird chimes have the three most important properties of a high quality wind chime. They have beautiful soft tones; they are very attractive; and they are made with quality materials, which make them very durable and long lasting.
How long will they last? Thunderbird Chimes will out perform most other wind chimes. The large and medium wind chimes should last 10 years or more and the small wind chimes should last 5 years or more. Keep in mind that exposure to extreme conditions, such as constant high winds, will reduce their life.
How do their prices compare with other wind chimes? Thunderbird Chimes offer comparable prices to other wind chimes of equivalent size. Although, since Thunderbird Chimes are made from higher quality materials, you are getting a better product for the same price.
Can the wind chimes be hung outside in direct weather? Yes. The wind chimes are made from very durable materials allowing them to be exposed to any climate.
What creates their soft tones? The solid wood ball clappers in combination with the heavy copper tubes produce soft, mellow tones. This creates a wind chime that can be listened to for much longer periods of time than many other wind chimes. Keep in mind that with their soft tones they take a little more wind than some other wind chimes to produce the same volume.
Why are they blue? The copper tubes have been treated chemically to produce the beautiful blue patinas. Blue is also a very claming, tranquil color.
What materials are used in their construction? The wind chimes are made with copper tubes and solid brass hardware, which are both non-rusting metals. The wood tops are cedar and the wood ball clappers are birch, both of which have been soaked in preservatives. All cord used is black braided polyester, which is very resistant to U.V. light, rot and mildew. The wind catchers are made from copper. All of these materials are very durable and create a wind chime that is very strong and long lasting.
Is there any maintenance required? Very little maintenance is needed. Depending on how much rain and sun the wind chime is exposed to, the wood tops and wood ball clappers may need to be re-oiled every few years.
What makes these wind chimes different and special from others? Solid brass grommets are placed in the pipe holes to reduce cord fraying. Thicker cord is used for better wear and longer life. The wind catchers are made from recycled copper roof flashing, which has been torched to create attractive colors and then enamel coated. All metal used is non-rusting copper and brass.
